A Planet is a body that orbits the Sun, i.e  it moves around a star like the Sun. There are totally eight planets now. 

The Solar System is created of all the planets that orbit our Sun. Additional to planets, the system consists of moons, comets, asteroids, minor planets, and dust and gas. Everything within the system orbits or revolves round the Sun.

Highlights of the Solar System:

• The Sun is the center of the Solar System.
• The Sun revolves round our Galaxy and it takes 250 million years to complete its one revolution round to the Galaxy.
• The Sun rays take  8 minutes to reach the Earth.
• The Sun's diameter is : 13,92,000 Kilometers.
• The Sun contains mainly Hydrogen(90%),Helium(8%) and other elements(2%)
• The Nearest Star to the Sun is Alpha Centauri.  
• No Satellite Planets are : The Mercury & The Venus.
• Asteroids are existed between Jupiter & Mars.
• The Planets revolve from East to West are the Venus & the Uranus In the Solar System.
